The IICRC was formed in 1972 to serve as an independent certification body to set and promote high standards and ethics and to advance communication and technical proficiency within the inspection, cleaning and restoration service industries.  It became a non-profit organisation in 1986/87.  Sixteen regional, national and international trade associations and three individuals own stock in the IICRC.  Each entity owns a block of 500 shares and has one vote on the Board of Directors.  No one shareholder has controlling interest.

The primary missions of the Institute are to be the leading, independent, non-profit, certification and International Standard setting body within the cleaning, inspection, and restoration industry; to set and promote high ethical standards, and to advance communication, collaboration and technical proficiency.

Further, the Institute acts as a central conduit in the exchange of information between all segments of the cleaning, inspection and restoration industries.  The Institute cooperates with all segments of these industries, in whatever prudent, legal, ethical, and financial means reasonable, in order to enhance product quality, value and service to the consumer.

In addition to the primary activities within these industries, the Institute pro-actively disseminates information to maintain industry-wide, productive, logical and fair recommendations for the protection of the consumer, industry workers and the environment.  The Institute continues to promote the science of cleaning and restoration.

 
Certification PDF Print E-mail

Students who attend an IICRC-approved course and pay the appropriate fee are eligible to take certification exams and become IICRC Certified in each specific category.

IICRC Certification is a process that must be renewed annually, and maintained by earning IICRC aproved Continuing Education Credits (CECs) and meeting on-going program requirements. Also, regsitrants must pledge to adhere to an IICRC Code of Ethics.

An IICRC Certified Firm has earned the right to display the IICRC trademark (logo) and symbol of quality by employing IICRC-Certified technicians and demonstrating that are a registered company and that they carry public liability insurance.  They are committed to provide cleaning and restoration services based on the highest standard of honesty and integrity.  Their knowledge of cleaning and restoration is respected and recognised internationally.

What is an IICRC Registered Supporter?
An IICRC Registered Supporter is a company that encourages and promotes professional training in the areas of inspection, cleaning and restoration using IICRC-approved courses and instructors. Registered Supporters belong to at least one trade association and recruit at least three Certified Firms annually. Registered Supporters promote and encourage the value of Certified Firm and Certified Technician status among professional cleaners and restorers, and encourage continuing education credit (CEC) programs for certified technicians and inspectors and sponsor IICRC-approved events semi-annually.

The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification is the certification registry and standard setting organisation for the inspection, cleaning and restoration industry. It is the largest not-for-profit registry of inspectors, cleaners and restorers serving Australia, New Zealand, US, Canada, Great Britain and Japan. It is controlled by regional and international trade associations. Thus the IICRC represents the entire industry.
The IICRC was established in the US in 1972 to provide a means by which professionals could receive generic training and become certified. Today, it is recognised as the impartial certification body for the inspection, cleaning and restoration industry. Independent and franchise professionals worldwide are tested through the IICRC.
